Lucinda Brand Determined to Compete in Dutch Championship Despite Injury Setback

Lucinda Brand was in the lead in the Zonhoven cross on Sunday when she fell and hit her face hard against the ground. The 34-year-old Dutch woman had to give up, as there were immediate fears of a broken nose.

That verdict was confirmed on Tuesday by her Baloise-Trek Lions team. Still, Brand wants to start next weekend during the Dutch championship.

“Lucinda can breathe freely and there are no medical risks associated with cycling. She is therefore determined to participate in the national championship in Hoogeveen on Sunday,” it said.
