The NBA announced this Tuesday that Los Angeles will host the 2026 All Star, the 75th in the history of the North American League, and that it will be played at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, future home of the Clippers, on February 15, 2026. The pavilion, now under construction (its opening is scheduled for August 2024), will debut as the venue for an All Star, although Los Angeles has already hosted this event six times.
“The Intuit Dome, which promises fans a unique and innovative experience, will be an extraordinary place for the 2026 All Star to be held,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver commented at a press conference in the pavilion. “Thank you again to Steve Ballmer, Gillian Zucker and the Clippers organization for their commitment to delivering a world-class exhibition,” the president added. “We are building the Intuit Dome to enjoy the best basketball players in the world and we are grateful that the NBA has trusted us for this All Star,” said Steven Ballmer, owner of the Californian franchise.
Los Angeles has already hosted the event six times with a cast of stars who were crowned MVP: LeBron James (MVP 2018), Kobe Bryant (2011), Shaquille O’Neal (2004), Julius Erving (1983), Jerry West (1972) and Bill Russell (1963). The last time the All-Star Game was played there, Team LeBron came back from 13 points to beat Team Curry (148-145). The King scored a three-pointer that tied the game with 1:30 left and a layup that put his team ahead with 34.5 seconds left.
A weekend full of basketball
The agenda will begin on Friday, February 13 with the traditional Rising Star game, which brings together the players (first and second years) with the most potential in the League, and the celebrity game. A day later, the 14th, it will be the turn of the contests: skills, triples and dunks. And on Sunday the 15th, the basketball festival will close in style with the All Star Game.
