The Liga MX will introduce a rule for the referees for the 2024 Clausura Tournament that is about to begin, which makes the referees explain in the local sound of the stadiums when there is a change of decision in the VAR, in the purest style of the NFL .
Armando Archundia, president of the Refereeing Commission of the Mexican Soccer Federation, explained the operation of what will be an innovation in the communication of referees when they make decisions in the VAR.
Archundia reported that the referee will address the public in the stadium and those who witness the broadcast of each match under the following procedure.
-When there is a modification to an arbitration decision promoted by the VAR.
-The referee will turn on his microphone to be heard by the stadium and the TV broadcast.
-The whistler will explain what the decision was, including the action to be judged and the number of the player(s) involved.
Likewise, Archundia explained that the explanation will not be in-depth and will be limited to the marked or, rather, modified action decided after the VAR review.
This innovation is approved by FIFA and, as Archundia explained, Liga MX will be a pioneer in the implementation of this standard, along with 23 other competitions around the world.
