Leong Jun Hao replaces Justin Hoh in Asian Team Championships due to knee injury

PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao has been called up to replace Justin Hoh in the Asian Team Championships from Feb 13-18 in Setia Alam after the latter suffered a knee injury.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) released a statement on Friday (Jan 27) confirming the news.

“Justin has an injury to his right knee and may take some time to recover,” said BAM.

“With the deadline to register players at midnight tonight (Jan 26), BAM decided to bring in Jun Hao as a replacement. Justin has been advised by the doctors to refrain from participating in any high intensity competitions over the next few weeks,” it added.

World No. 37 Jun Hao will now join world No. 10 Lee Zii Jia, world No. 15 Ng Tze Yong and 18-year-old Eogene Ewe in the team event.

The doubles players that have been called up are national No. 1 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and young pair Choong Hon Jian-Mohd Haikal Nazri.
