Latvia’s Gērmane Finishes Eighth Overall in World Cup Alpine Skiing Race

In the first race, starting with number 30, Gērmane covered the track in 55.04 seconds and took 11th place in the competition of 63 participants. The Latvian athlete lost 2.13 seconds to the American leader Mikeila Šifrina.

In the first race, Shifrin finished in 52.91 seconds. She edged out Croatia’s Zrinka Lutic by 0.52 seconds, while Switzerland’s Melanie Mejar was 1.35 seconds behind to round out the top three.

Out of 63 female athletes who started in the first race, 46 alpine skiers reached the finish line, of which the best 30 qualified for the second race.

On the other hand, in the second race, Đermane, completing the course in 55.26 seconds, achieved the sixth fastest finish time, which allowed her to occupy the eighth place overall.

Shifrina celebrated the victory in the sum of two trips, for whom it was the 95th success in the World Cup competition. She beat Lutic by 0.14 seconds, while the third-placed Swedish athlete Anna Sven Lašone lost to the American by 0.81 seconds.

Đermane lost 2.09 seconds to Shifrin in the sum of both runs.

In the World Cup slalom standings, Shifrin has 630 points, 125 points ahead of Slovakia’s Petra Vlhova, while Germany’s Lena Dirr is third with 402 points. Germane is in 18th place with 95 points.
