Kristaps Porzingis: On Limiting Players, All-Star Game Voting, and Return from Injury

“You can only limit a player of that level a little bit. Let’s see what we are capable of,” said Porzingis.

The Latvian basketball player also admitted that everyone tries to play physically against Jokic. Like Jokic, Porzingis also has scratched hands from close duels with opponents.

“Regardless of what position you play, if you get a lot of attention, someone will probably scratch you. I have a big scar from the second season, everyone thinks it’s from surgery, but I got it in the game. That’s why I wear a guard. We all get scratched, but his hands are always red. He knows how to use his height well and it takes several players to limit him,” said Porzingis.

A week before the end of the NBA All-Star Game fan voting, Porzingis is sixth in the competition for the Eastern Conference’s tallest players. If he is not selected in the fan vote, there is a possibility that the Latvian will be selected as one of the reserves.

“I concentrate only on victories. If we are first in the league, everything else will come by itself. Now it’s not as important as it was at the beginning of my career, when I wanted to compare myself to others,” said Porzingis about the opportunities to play in the NBA All-Star Game.

Due to inflammation of the right knee, Porzingis did not participate in the previous “Celtics” battle, but the Latvian feels good and is going to return to the court on Friday. “The medical staff is always cautious and looks at everything in the long term,” said Porzingis.
