Kalev” Dominates “Ventspils” in “Pafbet” Latvian-Estonian Basketball League while “Ogre” Triumphs over “University of Latvia

“Ventspils” lost to the leading team of the tournament in the “Pafbet” Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LIBL) match on Wednesday, while “Ogre” beat “University of Latvia” (LU) in another game. Ventspilnieki lost to the “Kalev” team from Tallinn with the result 88:110 (23:21, 16:31, 30:22, 19:36) on their field, which achieved their 11th victory in a row.

Ishmael El-Amin was the most productive among the hosts with 22 points, Artūrs Ausējs collected 19 points and five assists, and Linards Jaunzems scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Mick Jurkatam scored 23 points for Tallinn, while Mihkel Kirves added 20 points and eight steals.

The hosts with 12 wins in 18 matches are in the fourth place in the tournament table, while the Tallinners are in the first position with 19 wins in 20 matches.

On the other hand, “Ogre” defeated LU at home with a score of 78:65 (27:12, 21:20, 14:23, 16:10).

For the home side, Mats Juciks stood out with 21 points, Andris Misters scored 17 points and made six effective passes, while Kristaps Mediss scored another 13 points.

Valters Briedis and Edvards Lucis, who each scored 15 points, did not save LU from the loss.

“Ogre” has won ten victories in 19 matches and is in seventh place in the tournament table, while LU is second to last in the 16-team competition with a record of 3-19.

At the beginning of October, “Ogre” won on the road with 78:64.

On Wednesday, in another match, “Rīgas Zeļļi” beat Tallinn’s “TalTech” with a score of 89:72 (24:18, 22:22, 26:22, 17:10).
