Italian Cup: Juventus-Frosinone

Juventus in the Italian Cup format is a goal machine: after the six goals scored against Salernitana, four more arrive to eliminate Frosinone and reach the semi-finals against Lazio. Milik is unleashed and scores a hat-trick (plus a disallowed goal), Yildiz confirms himself as a baby prodigy and Allegri can celebrate his 400 benches with the Bianconeri in the best possible way. For Di Francesco, however, comes the sixth defeat in the last eight matches between the championship and the Italian cup. Allegri does very little turnover.

The big Juventus are practically playing: Chiesa and Rabiot are not called up due to some ailments but there is optimism in view of Sassuolo; Vlahovic rests and starts from the bench; for the rest he is almost the typical formation. Perin is in goal, in front of him the trio of the untouchables Gatti-Bremer-Danilo, in attack the tandem Yildiz-Milik and in the lanes Weah and Kostic. Locatelli is seen again in midfield after his disqualification, with McKennie and Miretti playing with him. Di Francesco launches only one of the Juventus “babies”, with Kaio Jorge making the offensive reference while Barrenechea and Soule are spared. Even the latest arrival, the former Toro Bonifazi, starts outside with the Okoli-Romagnoli-Lusuardi trio ahead of Cerofolini.

Before kick-off there is space for the Women’s celebration, “We want to share this Super Cup with the fans” is the message from captain Gama who puts the trophy won in the final in Cremona against Roma on display. At the start Perin risks something in the construction from below, but Juve immediately puts the challenge on the right tracks: Miretti makes a percussion in the area and is brought down by Lirola, Milik is glacial from the spot and finds a goal that has been awaited for 96 days, since the derby of October 7 against Toro. Frosinone, however, when they attack they do so with many men and also shoot with Harroui and Ibrahimovic, without creating major problems for the Juventus goalkeeper.

However, Allegri’s team remained in full control of the match and, in the 38th minute, also took the double advantage: Milik opened and closed the action with two great plays, with the assist to McKennie’s kiss serving the Pole for the personal double. Soule’s card is immediately played for Francesco, greeted by enthusiastic applause from the Stadium, and recalls Ibrahimovic, while Allegri confirms his starting eleven for the second half. McKennie immediately has the ball but finds a great response from Cerofolini. The 3-0 arrives a few minutes later: Mazzitelli falls asleep and is preceded by Locatelli, who serves Milik and gives him the ball for the hat-trick. The Pole’s personal poker is canceled due to offside, while Juve’s by Yildiz is good, with the 2005 class acrobatically finding the second goal in as many appearances in the Italian Cup.

Juve advances easily and completes the list of semi-finalists together with Fiorentina, Atalanta and Lazio, with the double match against the former Sarri to be set between 3-4 April and 24-25 of the same month. In the championship, however, Allegri will have until Tuesday to prepare for the home match against Sassuolo, while the Ciociari will be on stage on Monday in Bergamo against Atalanta.
