Italian Archers Excel at Archery World Championship Finals

BONACINA WORLD CHAMPION – Matteo Bonacina is the new compound open world champion. The Italian beat the British Nathan Macquenn in the final at the end of a match that started in perfect balance (29-29, 28-28), but then the Italian archer accelerated with a 27-26 and above all the 30-28 of the fourth volley. They are the decisive arrows because in the last set Bonacina controls and, despite the 28-27 in favor of the opponent, wins the match 141-139.

GOLD AND SILVER AMONG THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED AZZURRI – The first day of finals at the Pra-Archery World Championships is therefore colored blue thanks to the Visually Impaired archers. Among the VI 1 Matteo Panariello beats the Australian Craig Prowse 6-0 with a performance of the highest level, taking home all the partials: 20-10, 17-10 and 22-7. The blue thus completes his perfect World Championship, after first place in qualifying he didn’t leave even a set to his opponents during all the qualifying rounds

Closing with an excellent silver was Daniele Piran, who after last year’s European title also took second place in the world. The Italian lost the final against the British Steve Prowse 6-2. Piran equalized the first and fourth sets 23-23, but lost in the two sets 27-26 and 23-21.

ALL THE MEDALS – Together with Matteo Panariello and Craig Newbery the Belgian Venhollebeke gets on the podium of the Visually Impaired 1, beating the Cypriot Misos 6-2. Among the VI 2/3, the bronze goes to the British Thomas after a 6-0 win over his national teammate Tranter.
In the individual men’s compound where Bonacina is gold and Macqueen is silver, the bronze goes to the Australian Milne who beats the Belgian Van Montagu 145-143.
The new individual world champion is the Turkish Cure who in the final wins 140-138 against the Indian Devi, third place for the Brazilian Gogel after the 139-142 over the other Indian Sarita.
China dominates the compound team competition, winning gold against Iran 157-150 and setting a new world record. The bronze goes to the United States of America with 149-140 over the Czech Republic.
In the women’s victory for Great Britain who beat Brazil 152-145 in the final, India takes the third step of the podium after beating Iran 147-142.
