Inflatable latex pants will be a trend next spring, would you wear them? – The Sun of Mexico

It was in February 2023 when the British singer Sam Smith caused a sensation when he walked the red carpet at the Brit Awards, wearing an extravagant and out-of-the-box custom-made inflatable latex suit, which he combined with platform boots. , and with which he challenged fashion standards.

This design, which is now going viral on social networks, is the creation of Harikrishnan Keezhathil Surendran Pillai, a designer and artist of Indian origin, better known as Harri, who made his way in London with his eponymous firm, whose designs are made from latex, in which ingenuity and creativity have no limits.

Researching latex was an exciting journey for Harri, from precision-crafted costumes that tenderly enclose the physique to inflated creations that defy gravitational norms, each piece reflects her steadfast devotion and creative genius.

The brand distinguishes itself by embracing “voluptuousness”, an eccentric notion that moves away from regular norms and ventures beyond “normal” limits, by manipulating scale and proportion, which are reflected in pieces that surpass borders. of fashion turning them into a dynamic and pulsating work of art.

“He believes that fashion is synonymous with non-conformity and that being bold and idiosyncratic is inherent to the industry. His work explores, investigates and thrives primarily on being inclusive. “Our principles extend beyond masculine or feminine labels, exalting the intrinsic charm of human uniqueness,” his website reads.

Under this philosophy, he has created several collections that have become an internet sensation, where the star piece is inflatable pants, with an exaggeratedly wide silhouette that fit at the waist and inflate from the thigh to the ankle, with a valve. of air that is at the bottom.

According to the creative, this idea arose because when he was playing with his canine companion Kai, he imagined what our world looks like through the eyes of his pet. This remark triggered an intriguing game of distortion between the perceptions of the people around him and how Kai might have seen them, from a lower angle.

For the upcoming spring-summer 2024 season, it launches a collection inspired by revered sculptors such as Isamu Noguchi and Peter Shelton, in which it interweaves fashion, art and sculpture to offer a different perspective on the 4D silhouette.

These designs are available in various colors ranging from neutral, white, black, to more intense ones such as bottle green, metallic gold and silver and even neon.

“For my spring-summer 2024 collection, I am inspired by texture and movement, looking for innovative ways to explore this through my wearable sculptures. “My design language is a journey that is constantly evolving and informed by sculpture and movement, which I draw into and out of my signature garment and wearable designs,” the designer said in a statement.
