“I would like to thank Mr. Galtier”: Luis Enrique grateful after his first title with PSG

Luis Enrique ended his seven-year drought this Wednesday evening! The Spanish coach’s last title dates back to 2017 at the time of FC Barcelona and thanks to the victory of his men against Toulouse during the Champions Trophy (2-0), he was able to rediscover with happiness and greed the flavor of a reward. After the match, the PSG coach confided in a press conference his joy at winning this first title which he dedicated to Christophe Galtier. Delighted with the first 45 minutes delivered by his players, he was less keen on the drop in speed after the break.

What feeling prevails after your first trophy won with PSG?

LUIS ENRIQUE. My joy is not relative to the titles I win. Winning titles depends on the club you are at. I would like to thank Mr. Galtier, the players present last season, thanks to whom I was able to compete for this trophy. Secondly, I would say that I am very happy to give great joy to the supporters, I hope that this will be the first trophy of a long list. There was an exceptional first period on our part, where we played the best first 45 minutes since I have been here. Secondly, there are many things to improve.

Can you give us any news about Milan Skriniar being out injured and how do you judge Beraldo’s first minutes?

I don’t know anything about Milan. But I don’t think it’s a minor injury. We’re waiting for the exams, but I’m pretty sure he won’t be able to play the next matches. I’m happy with Beraldo. He has personality, quality, the public really liked him.

What did you think of Donnarumma’s performance?

It’s a real guarantee with a purpose. It’s difficult to be the goalkeeper of a big team. He was rather quiet in the first half. But he has a lot to do in the second half. That’s what a great goalie is for. I am very happy with his performance.

“Ugarte? It was magnificent”

Do you plan to continue to field Vitinha in this sentinel position?

For me, his position is inside, he can play winger too. It is very easy to find spaces. It’s a different position but he was very good with the ball. He is in the process of assimilating all the work without the ball.

Why didn’t Ugarte play?

It was magnificent, zero lost balls, perfect, wonderful (smile). It’s a very high level team, I need two players in each position for everyone to improve. I’m happy with him, but not everyone can participate in every match. It’s competition. You have to be better every day. We will try to improve, that’s what I want. I want us to continue to progress and that is the case with Manuel Ugarte.
