Sitting at home on New Year’s Eve? No way. It’s better to enjoy the warmth by the sea or somewhere in the mountains – that’s how our famous people, who sent their New Year’s wishes mostly from exotic destinations. Where was Richard Krajčo, Milan Peroutka or Leoš Mareš, for example? And what will be an exceptional year for Petra Kvitova?
Petra Kvitová is expecting a baby
Petra Kvitová (32) and her husband, coach Jiří Vaněk (45), were probably the only VIPs to spend the turn of the year peacefully, without alcohol and at home. On the other hand, they timed the information that they are expecting a baby for the first minutes of the new year. It is said that this does not mean the end of Petra’s tennis career, but the usual start of the new season in Australia will not be.
After all, other famous Czech tennis players, such as Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková and Lucie Šafářová, did not end up on the courts due to motherhood. Barbora Strýcová – who, by the way, is also currently pregnant – after returning from maternity leave even won Wimbledon 2023 in doubles with teammate Sie Šu-wei.
Žilková went to the Canary Islands from the wedding
Veronika Žilková (62) really cannot complain that she would be bored at the end of 2023. After celebrating Christmas four times thanks to her extended family, she went skiing with her descendants Vincent, Cyril and Kordula to the mountains to return to the tree at Agáta’s, from whom she received a gift in the form of her unexpected wedding to Mirek Dopita. As she claims, she found out about this news a few hours before the ceremony itself.
It is not surprising that she then needed to relax a bit, so her New Year’s greetings came from a trip to Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, where she went to relax with her friend Josef Holomač (64).
Světlana Nálepková and Nela Boudová, for example, went to the same place – they both have apartments there.
Mareš in a helicopter with Pretty Woman
“We could have gone by train,” Leoš Mareš said when getting out of the helicopter, joking with himself in a post on Instagram that this was probably his most embarrassing sentence. He and his wife Monica went by helicopter to one of the most luxurious mountain resorts in the world – Savoy Courchevel in the French Alps. He took Monica there to shop at local boutiques, and as he stated in Instagram posts, the goal was to make his wife feel like Vivian in Pretty Woman.
Since Leoš also had his white Rolls-Royce transported to the Alps, it looks like they will both stay there for a while – so they spent New Year’s Eve without their little daughter Alex, who was apparently being looked after by her grandmother, Leoš’s mother.

For Richard Krajč, the year 2023 was not only very successful, because he took home the Golden Nightingale award, but also a year when he filled the pages of newspapers and magazines with his shocking suit, which he wore for its announcement. To celebrate the end of the year and the arrival of the new one, he chose Dubai, where he flew to rest with his wife Karin – by the way, he speaks of Dubai as his second home.
Evidently, he was not the only one who chose this destination, because he posted a video on his Instagram to wish him all the best for the new year, in which Jakub Prachař sings with him, whom he says he met by chance there. So it can be concluded that he was there with his girlfriend Sara Sandeva.

Actress Tereza Ramba (34) also celebrated New Year’s Eve by the sea, who sent an interesting wish from there: “So happy new year, people! Lots of love and let’s have fun of course! Love is!” She accompanied this with a photo of her background in a swimsuit.

Perhaps she was also inspired by the title of her book Co te nezabie.
