History and Achievements of PSV Bernau: The Birth of Judo Sport and its Success Stories

Our Police Sports Club (PSV) Bernau b. Berlin was founded on May 2nd, 1990. We emerged from that Sports community (SG) Dynamo Bernau. The GDR sports association Dynamo (SV Dynamo) was founded on March 27, 1953 as a sports organization for, among other things, the police. According to central guidelines, SV Dynamo was founded in the then Frankfurt (Oder) district and SG Dynamo Bernau in the same year. It was regulated that the head of the Bernau People’s Police District Office was always also the first chairman of the Dynamo Bernau sports community.

Im March 1956 The JUDO section of SG Dynamo Bernau was founded. With that she struck Birth of judo sport in Bernau. The judoka from Bernau in the Frankfurt (Oder) district were soon considered strong in combat. From the beginning, children’s and youth sports had a special status. This is what happened in the year 1973 for particularly powerful judoka in the children’s area Training Center (TZ) JUDO the SG Dynamo Bernau was formed. A key goal was to delegate the best athletes to the children’s and youth sports school (KJS).

Full-time employee TZ trainer was until 1990 Günter Seidler. With his trainers, he shaped entire generations of young athletes. Our honorary member Günter Seidler celebrated his 60th birthday on July 27, 2002. Although he has moved his residence to Werdau / Saxony for family reasons, he is regularly at our side at competition highlights and as an authorized inspector at belt tests.

The most successful judoka from Bernau were:

  • Dieter Moch (delegated to the sports school in 1973) Vice Junior European Champion
  • Andreas Grutza (delegated in 1974) winner of the European Cup with SC Dynamo Hoppegarten
  • Lutz Kunze + (delegated in 1977) youth, junior and men’s European champion
  • Stefanie Ritter (delegated as the first female judo fighter in 1981)

The following athletes are currently learning and training from PSV Bernau e. V. at the Elite School of Sports in Frankfurt (Oder):

  • Ann-Katrin Rudat (age group U 15)
  • Franziska Pinske (U15)
  • Bastian Lehmann (U 15)
  • Stefan Zimmermann (U 13)

PSV Bernau e. V. has 210 members (Status: February 2013).
In addition to a small strength training group and a few supporting members, these are mainly judoka. Our association is led by the board with 9 members.

Thanks to favorable spatial conditions, we collect socially determined monthly contributions from our members.
Children currently pay a membership fee of €10 and adults €15.
