Hertha loses to Wehen Wiesbaden

First division relegated Hertha BSC has to scale back its ambitions in the 2nd Bundesliga for the time being. Due to the 1:3 (0:1) at newly promoted SV Wehen Wiesbaden, after eleven competitive games without defeat, we left the field as losers again and thus lost sight of the top group for the time being.

Meanwhile, the negative series of bottom club VfL Osnabrück and newcomer SV Elversberg continued. Osnabrück remained without a win for the twelfth time in a row in the 0-0 draw against SC Paderborn, while Elversberg failed to achieve a sense of success in the 1-2 (1-0) draw against relegation candidate Hansa Rostock for the fifth time in a row.

Rostock, on the other hand, climbed into the relegation relegation zone by ending its five-game losing streak and achieving its first win under its new coach Mersad Selimbegovic.

End of failure

In Wiesbaden, Franko Kovacevic (24th/53rd) gave Hessen a 2-0 lead, while Jonjoe Kenny (59th) only managed to score the next goal for the club from the capital. Thijmen Goppel (72nd) restored the old two-goal gap. It was the first three-pointer for SVWW after five league games without a win.

Elversberg could also hope for an end to its unsuccessfulness on the Baltic Sea after Luca Schnellbacher took the lead (41st). But Dennis Dressel (69th) and Kai Pröger (90th + 2, hand penalty) turned the encounter around for Rostock. Elversberg ended the game outnumbered after Frederik Jäkel was shown a red card for his intentional handball (90.+1).

Osnabrück increasingly has to deal with the increasingly realistic relegation. Against Paderborn, the Lower Saxony team failed to win for the twelfth time in a row despite being outnumbered for more than 70 minutes after a red card for Kai Klefisch (17th/repeated foul). Paderborn, on the other hand, temporarily lost sight of the top spot due to their second game in a row without a win.
