“He began to hear voices”: the worrying revelations about the health of Ezequiel Lavezzi

The state of health of Ezequiel Lavezzi (38 years old) is worrying and is not getting better. Hospitalized in Uruguay on December 20 after a “domestic accident”, the former Argentina international is said to be suffering from serious health problems, particularly psychological.

After seeing “Pocho” admitted to the Sanatorium Cantegril hospital in Punta del Esteune (Montevideo) for an abdominal injury and a broken collarbone, his family justified this event by a fall during which his shoulder hit a furniture, causing fracture and cuts.

A version quickly contradicted by FM Gente who asserted with certainty that the former footballer had received “a stab wound on the right side of the body”. Argentine radio also mentioned a possible family brawl. But the revelations relayed by Marca today seem to present a completely different reality, which appears much more serious.

“Suddenly Pocho became very nervous. He started hearing voices and he thought they were coming for him or chasing him. He was very scared, explained journalist Estefania Berardi on Argentine television. He felt so bad that he grabbed a pair of scissors and started hurting himself. His brother tried to calm him down and control the situation, which is when the situation escalated and he ended up injuring his collarbone, she continued. El Pocho is in a legal dispute with his ex-wife, Natalia Lonbardo, and he thought those voices could be her coming for him. »

The family denies a second hospitalization

“His family decided it was best to take him to Buenos Aires on a medical plane. But when they arrived at the airport, he had a similar seizure and in those conditions he couldn’t travel because it was dangerous, even for the crew. They then drugged him and put him to sleep, said Lucas Bertero, a criminal lawyer who says he also has first-hand information. He had a sort of mystical explosion. He started shouting praises or requests to God.”

Last weekend, the Argentine press reported a second hospitalization, this time in Buenos Aires, of the former PSG and Naples player after suffering a relapse in his state of health, and a possible overdose. A version again directly contested by his family through Tomas Lavezzi, his son: “My father is doing well and is undergoing treatment. Stop making things up that aren’t true. He didn’t overdose or what they say.”

Ezequiel Lavezzi retired in 2019 after a final stint of three seasons at Hebei FC, in the Chinese Super League. Before that, he was mainly known for his spells at Napoli (2007-2012, 188 matches played, 48 goals) and Paris Saint-Germain, at the very beginning of the QSI era (2012-2016, 161 matches, 35 goals) . He also has 51 caps with the Argentina national team (9 goals), with whom he participated in the 2014 World Cup final.
