What does HanseMerkur say about this?
The company even changed the company logo on the Hamburg chest for its HSV commitment. Instead of green and white (which reminded some fans too much of their northern rivals Werder Bremen), the lettering on the jerseys is black.
In response to a BILD inquiry, board member Eric Bussert said: “HanseMerkur has been firmly at HSV’s side since the 2018/2019 season, first as an exclusive partner and since the 2022/2023 season as the main partner of the professional men’s team, the first women’s team and the Junior teams. Whether as an exclusive partner, main partner or, more recently, as a shareholder, our aim is to support HSV in its further development in the best possible way – in the interests of football and the fans.”
Bussert continues: “The statements quoted by some small shareholders surprise us both in terms of content and in the fact that no exchange has yet taken place between us. In our view, the top priority of everyone involved should be the sporting success, sustainable continuity and economic stability of HSV. We are happy to continue to do so wherever we can make a contribution.”
