Gimnasia Wins 4-2 Against Cerro Largo in Río de la Plata 2024 Series

Gimnasia won 4 to 2 against Cerro Largo of Uruguay, within the framework of the Río de la Plata 2024 Series, to prepare for the next season.

In a first half where both teams studied each other, Lobo had the best chances of opening the scoring. At 14 minutes, Benjamín Domínguez assisted Lucas Castro who tried near the left corner of the large area and went just above.

Gymnastics was better in the first quarter of an hour. Then, at 27 minutes a corner kick sparked controversy over a possible penalty (which was not) in favor of the La Plata team. The tripero team put pressure on Cerro Largo and after half an hour of play, they allowed Eric Ramírez to try from very far away without success.

Towards the end, a great play by Pata Castro enabled Domínguez, who tried to poke it in front of Rodrigo Fermento, who covered it with his face and took away El Lobo’s goal cry.

In the final at the Florida stadium, El Lobo won against Cerro Largo by execution of penalty kicks, taking the Juan Carlos Masnik Cup on Uruguayan soil.
