This is the statement: “The management of LDLC ASVEL has made the decision to part ways with Gianmarco Pozzecco and has found an amicable agreement for the termination of the contract with the Italian coach. The effect is immediate. In order to give new impetus to our professional team for this second part of the season, starting from this Saturday the head coach will be Pierric Poupet. He will be assisted by Edoardo Casalone from Joseph GomisWhile Karim Atamna will be in charge of individual player development“.

Numerous indignant reactions from the fans, which essentially all focus on the same theme: the very little time given to Pozzecco. The coach of the Italian national team, in fact, had arrived in France at the end of October to replace TJ Parker, Tony’s brother (who is president of ASVEL). The club’s current record in the Euroleague is 3-16, while in the French Betclic Elite (Pro A) they are in third place at 12-5 together with Paris Basketball.
Thus ends Poz’s period in transalpine territory, where he wasn’t even in the best possible conditions. Moreover, his requests to try to strengthen a roster with various and clear weaknesses were known. It will now be Poupet’s task to try to straighten out the season just a few weeks after the inauguration of the new LDLC Arena, home to the Euroleague matches in place of the previous (and smaller) Astroballe.
