Gasser is in the slopestyle final in Laax

On Tuesday, Anna Gasser qualified seventh with 63.58 points, making it into the top eight and thus reaching the final of the Slopestyle World Cup in Laax. Clemens Millauer was eliminated, as was Hanna Karrer in her World Cup debut, but the 15-year-old showed her potential with 45.66 points. The Styrian is now off to the Youth Winter Olympics. The final in Laax is scheduled for Saturday.

Gasser was only twelfth after heat one. “It was a tough game today. I really had to improvise a lot on some tricks and therefore had to take a lot of risks because I had to change my runs spontaneously,” she said. The Carinthian had to take a break over Christmas due to a bruised hip after suffering from a bruised heel at the start of the season. “I’m not yet at my highest level due to the new break. We’re still missing a win in Laax, it would be nice, but I’m not putting any pressure on myself.”

While Millauer says the larger training load in Laax was not worth it, Gasser will soon be going to the X-Games, where she will compete in big air, slopestyle and knuckle huck. She trusts Karrer to emulate her. “We have great hope for the future in our team,” said Gasser about the Stams student. “It’s extremely nice to snowboard with such a legend (Gasser, note). “It helps me a lot,” said Karrer.
