The interior Gabriele Angioi he will play in Parma in the next competitive season. Born on 7 March 2001, weighing 74 kilograms and 178 centimeters tall, he is a switch hitter coming from Cagliari, the club with which he played the last three Serie A championships. “I’m very happy, I can’t wait to face this new experience – his first words -. I have always played in Cagliari, I want to see how I will react in another place: my goal is to improve myself, do better year after year.
His defensive average (.923 in three years mainly in the role of shortstop) and his offensive numbers (.420 overall average from 2021 to 2023) have made him one of the best prospects in Italian baseball and, consequently, one of the prized pieces of the market.
His statistics last season were excellent. Angioi had 58 hits in 122 innings (.475 average) while hitting nine doubles, three triples and two home runs. He also had 17 stolen bases which made him the third “thief” in the league.
In Parma he will find players with whom he has already shared important experiences: “I recently played the European Under 23 championships with Tommaso Battioni, previously I had shared the experience of the Tirrenia Academy with Monello, Flisi and Astorri”.
Gabriele Angioi’s still young CV includes numerous experiences in the youth national teams: “I played in the world championships in Taiwan in the Under 12 category, then two editions of the European Championships and the World Cup in Thunder Bay with the Under 18s. Last year I wore the uniform of the Under 23 national team in the European Championships played in Austria”.
Angioi will reach Parma in March and will make himself available to coach Saccardi and his staff to perfect preparations in view of the start of the championship, scheduled for the end of April.
