French Badminton Championships 2024: Popov Brothers and Local Favorites Look to Shine

From February 2 to 4, 2024, the best French badists will be in Fos-sur-Mer to compete in the French Championships. The competition, in a new, tighter formula, will mark a short break in the race for Olympic qualification.

In men’s singles, the two finalists from the last two editions – the Popov brothers – (Badminton Club Fos) can only meet in the final. Toma Junior puts his title back on the line with a possible semi-final against Arnaud Merkle (seeded 3/4 / Red Star Mulhouse). For the cadet and 2020 and 2022 champion – Christo – he could find himself in 1/2 against the other 3/4 seed Alex LANIER (ASPTT Strasbourg).

In men’s doubles. The locals and seeded 2 – Christo and Toma Junior Popov (Badminton Club Fos) will be keen to regain their 2022 crown. Unhappy finalists last year, they should have the duo Éloi Adam/Léo Rossi (BC) on their way. Chambly Oise / Arras Badminton Club), seeded 3/4, in 1/2 final. The top seeds, Lucas Corvée and Ronan Labar (Issy les Moulineaux Badminton Club / Aix Université Badminton Club) could meet last year’s winners in the quarter-finals: the duo Julien Maio / William Villeger (MDMSA / ASPTT Strasbourg).

In mixed doubles, the duo Elsa Jacob/Tom Lalot Trescarte (Badminton Club Fos) will also be closely followed playing at home, recalls the ffbad.
