Fortuna Sittard Coach Confirms Two Transfer Rumors: Peterson’s Arrival and Pandur’s Possible Departure

Fortuna Sittard coach Danny Buijs confirms in conversation with ESPN two transfer rumors surrounding the Limburg club. The current number ten of the Eredivisie hopes to strengthen himself in the winter with , who previously played in the Netherlands but is currently without a club. In addition, there is indeed interest in the goalkeeper, although Buijs fears that a departure of his first goalkeeper could have far-reaching consequences for the club.

Peterson (29) has been available on a free transfer since January 1, as he can leave his contract with the Israeli Hapoel Beer Sheva due to the war between the country and Hamas. In the past, the one-time Swedish international played for FC Utrecht, Roda JC and Heracles Almelo. Buijs confirms that he would like to have Peterson there: “I know they are in discussions with him. But as you saw today, he was not yet on the training field, so it is absolutely not finalized at the moment,” said the practice master.

On the other hand, there is a possible departure of Pandur. FCUpdatejournalist and presenter Mounir Boualin revealed last Friday that Fortuna is in discussions with the English Hull City about a transfer for the 23-year-old Croatian. Buijs does not hope that he will have to make do without his first goalkeeper in the second half of the season: “Ivor played everything in the first half of the season. You prefer not to lose him in the winter. If you do that too much, you will pay for it.” an expensive price at the end of the day. Then you could easily be relegated.”

Although Fortuna entered the winter break as the top team on the right-hand side, the Limburgers still have to look down. The gap with sixteenth place, which is now occupied by RKC Waalwijk and would mean play-offs for relegation at the end of the season, is only five points. Buijs and his team resume the competition on Saturday with a home match against Sparta Rotterdam. The match in Sittard starts at 4:30 PM.

Updated 12:27 pm: Fortuna has now officially confirmed the arrival of Peterson. The Swede signs a contract for 2.5 seasons and says on the Limburgers’ website that he is pleased with his return to the Dutch fields: “I have had very nice periods here and I therefore know well what to expect from the Dutch competition. I hope to get fit as soon as possible and contribute to the successes of this team,” the 29-year-old attacker said.
