A former jewel from Schalke’s youth team has now found a new club. He is drawn to Dortmund, of all places.
Dortmund/Gelsenkirchen – The “Knappenschmiede” of FC Schalke 04 produces outstanding talents year after year. But not all of the S04 youth players end up in the professional game at some point. Many of them either move abroad or into amateur football. This also applies to Semin Kojic, who is now joining a top division club (5th division) in Dortmund.
Former Schalke gem Semin Kojic is moving to Dortmund
Kojic played for Schalke 04’s U19s until the summer of 2023. Before that, he went through all the stages in the “Knappenschmiede” performance area. He came from the BVB youth team in 2017 and played a total of 65 competitive games (25 goals & 3 assists) in the royal blue jersey.
However, his contract with the Revierklub was not extended and so the center forward tried his luck in the Bosnian first league at NK GOSK Gabela. In the last six months, however, Kojic only made six appearances there (1 goal), which is why he is now looking for a new challenge.
Now the 19-year-old is returning to Germany and joining ASC 09 Dortmund. The club has already confirmed the transfer on its channels.

In the statement, the Aplerbeck sports club writes: “We have struck on the transfer market and are strengthening ourselves with Semin Kojic. The former U18 national player is coming to Aplerbeck on a free transfer.”

Samir Habibovic, sporting director of the ASC, explains: “We are very pleased that Semin has chosen us. We had already been in contact with Semin in the summer, and he never lost touch during his time in Bosnia. When we had the chance to sign him, we jumped at the chance.”

At ASC 09, Kojic is now working with a prominent coach. Ex-BVB and Premier League professional Marco Stiepermann is on the sidelines for Dortmund. As a player-coach, he is often on the pitch himself.
Ex-Schalke gem Kojic should help make the jump to the regional league in the second half of the season. ASC Dortmund is currently in second place in the Oberliga Westfalen, which entitles it to promotion.
There they are level on points with SV Schermbeck and three points behind Sportfreunde Lotte, but the 09ers still have a catch-up game in hand.
