Former Olympiacos Piraeus Big Man Willie Reed Collapses During T1 League Debut in Taiwan

A couple of days ago, former Olympiacos Piraeus big man Willie Reed joined the Tainan GhostHawks of Taiwan’s T1 League.

However, his debut didn’t go as everyone expected. Reed played less than 14 minutes against Taouyan Yunbao. With 7 minutes and 40 seconds left in the second quarter, he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground, without any contact with another player.

After a few minutes, Reed walked off the field with the help of team staff. According to Yahoo News, the player appeared very conscious and said the incident was “no big deal.” However, for safety reasons, the team sent him to hospital for medical tests.

The 33-year-old American most recently played for Fuenlabrada in Spain’s Liga Endesa. Previously, he spent two seasons with Buducnost in the Montenegrin league. In the 2021-22 season, Reed averaged 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in 13 Eurocup games, ranking fourth in the league.

Naturally, we hope that it is nothing serious and that Willie Reed will soon be able to return to the court to score baskets in the T1 League of Taiwan.
