Former NBA star Rajon Rondo (37) was arrested in the US state of Indiana. The accusation: Illegal possession of weapons and drugs. This is reported by the US television station “ESPN”, citing information from the Indiana State Police.

Rondo was stopped for a traffic violation in Jackson County, about an hour’s drive south of Indianapolis. During the subsequent search of the car, a weapon and drugs were found. The two-time NBA champion was then arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail, but was allowed to leave after posting bail.

According to US law, Rondo is not allowed to own a weapon because he has been subject to a no-contact order. This is reported by ESPN. The US broadcaster cites a document in which a protective order against Rondo applied for by a woman in 2022 was rejected. Both parties have previously reached an agreement.
In the motion, the woman alleged that Rondo threatened her with a gun. She fears for the safety of her children and accuses Rondo of “hostile, unpredictable and aggressive behavior.”
Rondo played in the NBA for a total of 16 years and most recently played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021/22 season. In addition to his four All-Star appearances, Rondo was champion with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and with the Lakers in 2020.
