Football: ten weeks of absence for Anthony Martial operated in Manchester

His ninth and probable final season at Manchester United turns into a nightmare for Anthony Martial. The French international (30 caps, 2 goals) will be absent for the next ten weeks due to groin surgery. His return is scheduled for April.

“Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has successfully undergone surgery to treat groin pain and will be out for around 10 weeks while he undergoes rehabilitation. We wish Anthony a speedy recovery and look forward to his return,” the Mancunian club said on its X account (formerly Twitter).

His last meeting dates back to December 9 against Bournemouth (0-3). He has since fallen ill and was subsequently sidelined by his trainer, visibly unhappy with his physical form.

In total, the Frenchman participated in 19 matches in all competitions, including 7 starts, for a record of 2 goals and 2 assists.

At the end of his contract next June, the former Monegasque will undoubtedly have to find a new club. His 10 weeks without playing will inevitably penalize him. Manchester United, only 8th in the Premier League (PL), was eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League and in the League Cup. Anthony Martial will therefore only have the Premier League and perhaps the Cup (MU travels to Newport County this Sunday in the round of 16) to show that he still remains a talented player at now 28 years old.
