Football Icon Franz Beckenbauer to be Honored on Multiple TV Channels in Memorial Service

The “Kaiser” will be honored on numerous TV channels on Friday!

Ten channels will broadcast the memorial service for football icon Franz Beckenbauer from Munich’s Allianz Arena on January 19th. The two-time world champion died on January 7th at the age of 78. As a rule, the broadcasters start their live broadcasts of the celebration at 3 p.m. with the motto “Thank you, Franz”. In addition to FC Bayern President Herbert Hainer, Honorary President Uli Hoeneß, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder will give speeches.

Bild.de: BILD shows the memorial service live in the stream. Start is at 1:35 p.m.

WELT TV: The live broadcast on WELT television starts at 2:30 p.m.

ARD/BR television: On BR television the show starts at 2:10 p.m. The first program starts at 3 p.m. Moderator Esther Sedlaczek leads through the ARD program. So that ARD can broadcast the commemoration, the women’s individual biathlon race in Antholz (Italy) will be brought forward to the start at 1:40 p.m. (transmission begins at 1:30 p.m.).
