Football: 3 rounds of suspension for the Union Berlin coach – Football

Union Berlin coach, Croatian Nenad Bjelica, has been banned for three matches by the German Football League after hitting Bayern Munich striker Leroy Sané in the face at the end of Wednesday evening’s match. In the final minutes of the match against Bayern, Bjelica put his hand on Sané’s face as the Munich winger attempted to take a throw-in.

The Berlin coach was sent off, while Sané received a yellow card.

The disciplinary commission of the German League decided on a three-match suspension and a fine of 25,000 euros for unsportsmanlike behavior towards Bjelica, a sanction accepted by the Berlin club. After the match, Bjelica accused Sané of coming to “provoke” him, but admitted: “What I did is intolerable. I understand the red card.” Union Berlin is currently 15th in the Bundesliga with 14 points, one place and three points above the relegation zone.
