Figeac Judo Dojo Celebrates Founder’s 7th Dan Award With Christmas Fanfare

The Figeac Judo dojo celebrated the Christmas holidays with great fanfare on the occasion of the awarding of the 7th dan of its founder Patrice Sans. He is the first judoka in the department to reach this level of mastery in this century-old martial art.

The evening began by bringing together members of all ages around the practice of this sport, with Pascal Marcenac, technical director of the club, for various fun exercises.

These exercises were followed by questions asked to Patrice’s high-ranking friends, on the world of judo and their experiences, this is how Jacques Seguin (8th dan) Jean-Louis Juan (7th dan) Marc Delvingt (6th dan) were able to give answers and introduce part of the history of French judo to the students present.

After the ceremony of awarding the 7th dan red and white belt by Jean-Louis Juan, judo godfather of Patrice Sans, Huguette Tiegna, deputy of Lot, and André Mellinger, mayor of Figeac, respectively presented him with the medal of the National Assembly and the medal of the town of Figeac. The president of the club and Kata partner of Patrice Sans, Philippe Souillé declared during this ceremony that “Patrice gave a great end-of-year gift to Figeac judo, but that this grade obtained was the fruit of several years of work and dedication. ‘personal development”.

Many people, former or current judoka as well as their families, delighted to attend this unique celebration, were present.
