Felipe Orts and Lucía González, Spanish CX champions for the sixth time in Amurrio

MADRID, 14 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Felipe Orts from Alicante and Lucía González from Asturias once again demonstrated their hegemony in national cyclocross by becoming Spanish CX champions this Sunday for the sixth time, at the event held in Amurrio (Álava).

The elite men’s race was marked by the impressive pace set from the first stages by Felipe Orts, determined to win his sixth consecutive title, thus equaling David Seco and José Luis Talamillo. The favorite complied and continued to extend his advantage lap by lap, up to more than three minutes.

Gonzalo Inguanzo, in his first national championship in the elite category, was second and the Asturian Mario Junquera, champion in the team relay, completed the podium after a nice dispute with Ismael Esteban, who finally could not finish due to mechanical problems.

Meanwhile, in the elite women’s race, Lucía González did not have any options to also achieve the sixth title. Finishing behind the Asturian was her Nesta teammate, Sofía Rodríguez, who completed a solid race despite feeling at times the pressure of the Galician Irene Trabazo, third.

The Spanish Amurrio Championship was also a success in terms of participation, with a record of more than 800 participants, and fans, with three days full of people.
