Elena Bahamonde Takes Silver in Spanish Cup of Catalonia Judo Tournament

Elena Bahamonde signed a new success for Zamorano judo in the Spanish Cup of Catalonia in the cadet category thanks to his silver medal in the -44 kilos category representing the Caja Rural Judo Zamora. An achievement that he signed with his coach Angel Garciaboth belonging to the Judo Morales club and being the only representatives of Castilla y León in the tournament

Bahamonde came with two objectives for the tournament: gain experience and try to add some points to continue advancing in the national ranking. Two goals that she achieved, Elena faced complicated fights on the Catalan tatami and, in addition, won a silver medal that allowed her advance in the national list to fourth place.

The young woman from Zamora started off very motivated and on the path to victory the Spanish Cup in Catalonia, winning all the fights for Ippon (highest score in Judo) until reaching the grand final. A very close last fight in which he faced a left-handed judoka, involving a high level of strategy in the fight for gold. In the end, victory was decided by “Golden Score” (the first one to score wins) and this time the balance, luck fell on the side of the local judoka.
