Egypt and Ghana neutralized each other (2-2) for the 2nd day of the competition.

Egypt and Ghana neutralized each other this Thursday evening (2-2) for the 2nd day of the African Cup of Nations. The Egyptians scored two goals thanks to Marmoush (69th) and Mohamed (74th) while Kudus scored a double for the Ghanaians (45+3, 71st). Note the injury exit before the break of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

A sluggish first half…

A start to the match without rhythm. Both teams took their time, looking for the loophole. They both had a lot to lose and didn’t want to discover too much about themselves. Jordan Ayew tried to get ahead of the Pharaons defense but was caught each time just before entering the area. For their part, the Egyptian players had difficulty getting started, too often stopped by Ghanaian mistakes. Then the match changed when Mohamed Salah sat down in the central circle and began to take off his armband. The Liverpool striker came out with his head down, leaving his team without a playing leader. Stunned, the Pharaohs were no longer in the match and the Black Stars took full advantage. Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring with a pure left-footed strike just before returning to the locker room (0-1, 45+2nd).

…a second more explosive

In the second half, the Egyptian players tried to put in a lot more rhythm to get ahead of their opponents. The equalizing goal was initially refused for an offside position (49th) but it was not enough to discourage the Pharaohs. Marmoush came to deliver his team after a poor delivery from Inaki Williams behind him, directly at his feet. He dribbled past the goalkeeper and pushed the ball into the back of the net to bring his team back into the match (1-1, 68th). But barely 2 minutes of relaxation later, Kudus scored his second goal of the match to put the Black Stars back in the lead (1-2, 70th).

With another shot blocked, the attacker once again deceived the Egyptian goalkeeper who could do nothing. Dejected, the Pharaohs did not admit to being dead. Following a new defensive error from Ghana, Trézéguet overflowed on the left side before serving Mohamed, alone at the penalty spot which put the two teams back on level terms (2-2, 75th). Behind, neither team managed to make the ultimate difference and Ghana and Egypt, without Salah, shared the points at the end of this crazy match.
