Ecosantagata Civita Castellana Starts 2024 Season in Sixth Place: Coach Grezio Optimistic about Team’s Growth

Ecosantagata starts 2024 in sixth place

Mister Grezio: “Siamo in crescita”

CIVITA CASTELLANA – Sixth place with 21 points after 11 games. Ecosantagata Civita Castellana is preparing for the resumption of the men’s Serie B championship, set for January 13th, with a positive balance of the first half of the season.

The rossoblù have a score of 7 wins and 4 defeats, two of which came at the end of matches in which they had taken a 2-0 lead. It’s natural, therefore, that coach Fabrizio Grezio has a bit of a bitter taste in his mouth over the wasted opportunities.

“If I had to give a grade to the boys for these first 11 games, I would give a full pass – this is the analysis of the Ecosantagata coach -. In the first games we struggled a bit, but it was expected, because we had a profoundly renewed roster and because we immediately faced the strongest teams, many of which were away.

“However – continues Grezio – I am convinced that, with a little more luck and concreteness, we could have collected more points. I think of the matches against Sesto Fiorentino and Grosseto, which we lost when we won 2-0, but also the one against Tuscania, where we could certainly have taken at least a point, and the one against Anguillara, where we could have taken full spoils”.

Now the playoff zone is 9 points away. Many, perhaps too many, but Grezio still doesn’t want to look at the rankings. “I said it at the beginning and I repeat it: we are certainly a good team, but we don’t play to win the championship. We are on a path of growth and the improvements have been seen in the last few games; at the end of the first round we will be able to make a real estimate of our potential”.

According to the coach, his boys’ best match was the last one before the Christmas break: the one they won 3-0 in Camaiore. “There we played as a real team from the first to the last point – says Grezio – and I was sorry that we had to stop after such a performance, because we had gained confidence. On the other hand, the match that disappointed me the most was the one in Anguillara, where we won 3-2, but they definitely should have done better.”

Ecosantagata Civita Castellana will return to the field on January 13th in Nepi, for the derby against the Volley club Orte.
