Dylan Groenewegen wins the sprint in Valencia

The season started in the most beautiful way for Dylan Groenewegen, winner of the Classica de la Comunitat Valenciana, contested this Saturday between La Nucia and Valencia (200 km). During this opening race of the European calendar, the Dutchman easily won in the sprint ahead of the Frenchman Bryan Coquard and the young German Tim Tom Teutenberg.

This first event of the season on the European continent was notably marked by a long morning escape of sixteen runners from which the Frenchman Valentin Retailleau (Décathlon-Ag2r La Mondiale), the Belgian Liam Slock (Lotto-Dstny) managed to escape. ) and the Italian Stefano Oldani (Cofidis) with forty kilometers remaining until the finish. Despite perfect understanding, the last three escapees were finally caught by the peloton fourteen miles from the goal.

Thanks to this success on Spanish soil, Groenewegen now has seventy victories to his name since the start of his career.
