Djokovic loses to De Minaur in the United Cup with wrist problems

MADRID, 3 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The number one tennis player in the world, the Serbian Novak Djokovic, was defeated this Wednesday against the Australian Alex De Miñaur (6-4 and 6-4) in the first match of the quarterfinals of the United Cup that faces Serbia and Australia , a match in which the Serbian once again needed medical attention from the physio on his right wrist.

Alex De Minaur, world number 12, defeated world number one, Novak Djokovic, by a double 6-4 in the first point of the United Cup quarter-final tie between Australia and Serbia, thus putting the 1-0 advantage in favor of the host team.

De Miñaur, who was especially successful with his service, winning 33 of 34 points with firsts, was able to defeat a Nole in 94 minutes of the match who did not have any opportunity to break his rival’s service. Furthermore, he was not successful with Djokovic’s serve either, winning only 70% with his first serve and not even reaching 50% with his second serve.

The worst news for the Serbian was that the wrist problems that he has had since the beginning of the season reappeared during the match against De Minaur.

The world number one had to be treated again after the seventh game of the match by the physiotherapist, as happened in the match against Lehecka last Tuesday. From that moment on, even though he continued in the match, you could see how he was not comfortable with his right hand.

This Wednesday was Djokovic’s first defeat in Australia since he fell to Hyeon Chung in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Australian Open.
