Diablo 4 Season 3 is off to a mixed start and some deadly elements in the dungeons annoy players more than they entertain them.

Season 3 of Diablo 4 revolves around the discovery of the ancient relics of Zoltun Kulle, an ally-turned-enemy-turned-reluctant ally in Diablo 3. This character is a mad genius known for creating harmful inventions that can be used as weapons and filling its deadly trap workshops to deter intruders.

Now that Season 3 is underway, players will spend a lot of time exploring Zolton Kulle’s workshops. They are now infested with demons, and worse, the demons have possessed the old wizard’s mechanical monstrosities. At first glance, it seems fun. However, we quickly realize that the game has relied a little too much on traps in this season.

Although the Diablo 4 Season 3 trailer made it clear that we were going to see more evil traps this season, this addition to the gameplay is already irritating some players. Some find their overabundance in Season 3 to be more annoying than innovative, and has made gameplay mundane.

Diablo 4 Season 3 players are fed up with all-too-present death traps

Player u/Porkchop1620 expressed his displeasure about this on Reddit. He asked the question: “ Is anyone tired of this trap bullshit? Sorry, but they’re just a huge hindrance in cleaning areas, making the whole thing slow and annoying. I watched the stream where they said they were adding more traps to the dungeons, but this is ridiculous and I’m already on the verge of quitting ».

In the comments, other players shared their feelings. One of them said: “ I don’t understand their obsession with trying to waste our time. Like, these empty trap rooms aren’t difficult, they’re just annoying and I have to waste time going through them when they could have just been a normal room full of monsters to kill, which is the fun part of the game ».

Others were more hesitant. “ I never really noticed them enough to be bothered “. Others even saw them as a refreshing change of pace, saying: “ I love them. It adds a different mode. I don’t think slowing down is a problem if it’s to solve problems. I think a lot of people approach this kind of game with a mentality of mindlessly destroying everything, which to me just isn’t very fun ».

While the traps exist to hinder the player and encourage them to engage in something other than combat, it’s understandable why some dedicated Diablo 4 players find it confusing.

After all, Diablo is a game about slaughtering hordes of demons rather than solving problems. However, basic puzzles have always been a part of the series, and Diablo 4 Season 3 appears to be tapping into this aspect of the franchise’s legacy.
