Denver Nuggets End Boston Celtics’ 20-Game Home Winning Streak

The hegemony of the Boston Celtics at TD Garden no longer holds.

The Bostonians suffered their first home loss in 21 games, losing to the Denver Nuggets 102-100 on Friday.

Boston became the 13th team in NBA history to start a season with a 20-0 home record by beating San Antonio on Wednesday.

Jamal Murray had 35 points while Nikola Jokic had 34 for defending NBA champion Denver.

Jokic added 12 rebounds and nine assists to help put the brakes on the Celtics’ home streak. This was the first of two regular season meetings between these two powerhouse teams. They will face off again in Denver on March 7.

Jayson Tatum had a chance to equalize in the final seconds, but he missed this ultimate opportunity. He finished with 22 points and eight rebounds. Derrick White had 24 points and Kristaps Porzingis added 21.

Denver erased a six-point halftime deficit with a 12-4 run to open the third quarter. Boston responded with a 9-0 run to regain the lead and lead 82-81 in the fourth.

Murray made five of his first six shots in the fourth quarter to give the Nuggets a 95-91 lead. Boston came back with seven straight points to turn the tide.
