Dani Planells and Noelia Pérez are awarded the Climb to the Cathedral 2023

2023 comes to an end and Dani Planells and Noelia Pérez do it winning the 41st edition of the Pujada a la Catedral after covering the 2,330 meters in 7:41 and 9:46 minutes that have separated the monument of the Corsairs to the Cathedral Square. As usual, this race organized by CA Pitiús to say goodbye to the year has been marked by the great festive atmosphere and the dozens of costumes worn by some of the more than 800 registered participants who wanted to run this Sunday afternoon.

As far as the race is concerned, Dani Planells has proclaimed himself champion of the men’s category, of Club Atletisme Santa Eulària, crossing the finish line with a final time of 7:41 minutes after an intense hand to hand with Andrés Torres Quintero (Club Atletisme Vallenc), who with a time of 7:44 won silver in the Pujada. The bronze went to Rubén Torres Ramiro (Club Atletisme Pitiús) with a time of 8:09.

Noelia Pérez has been the fastest in the female category

As for the women, Noelia Pérez (Fisioeivissa) was the fastest, crossing the finish line with a mark of 9:46 minutes. The podium was completed by the athlete Patricia Quirós (Peña Deportiva Santa Eulària) with a time of 10:06 minutes, while María Bonet (Club Atletisme Pitiús) won the bronze thanks to the record she achieved of 10:37 minutes in the 41st edition of the Ascent to the Cathedral.

The traditional race started at 4:30 p.m. from the monument of the Corsairs in the port of Ibiza, heading towards the Plaza de Sa Riba, then going around Es Martell and then continuing along Calle Lluís Tur y Palau towards the Old Market From the Market, it was necessary to go up through the Portal de ses Taules to integrate into the old town of Vila and continue with the ascent until reaching the finish line, located in the square of the Cathedral.
