It is a wonderfully played Dakar for the Czechs, because in the truck category, after 23 years since the triumph of Karel Loprais, they are reaching for victory again. Martin Macík is two hours and six minutes ahead of Aleš Loprais, the nephew of the six-time champion. And since Mitchel van den Brink is three and a half hours behind, it seems almost like science fiction that the Czech Republic would miss out on victory in this class.
But the Dakar was, is and will be unpredictable…
The motorbike category started at half past six in the morning, the cars will arrive before eight and the trucks will start the stage after nine o’clock Czech time.
