Czech skier Martina Dubovská took 14th place in the slalom at the World Cup in Jasná and equaled the best result of the season. American star Mikaela Shiffrin won and highlighted the lead in the series standings.
Dubovská was in 21st place after the first round, but in the second she performed the tenth fastest ride and improved. The competitor, whose lifetime record is a three-year-old sixth place from Levi, was three seconds behind the winner.
Shiffrin confirmed her dominance in the slalom, especially in the first round, after which she had a half-second lead. In the second, she made a mistake and recorded only the seventh time, but she won by 14 hundredths ahead of Zrinka Ljutičová from Croatia. Third was Anna Swennová Larsson from Sweden.
In Jasná, the 28-year-old Shiffrin followed up on her triumphs from 2016 and 2021 and scored her 95th career victory. In addition, with the 82nd place on the podium in one discipline, she set a new record. She shared the maximum with the famous Swede Ingemar Stenmark.
In addition, Shiffrin took another step towards defending the big globe and the triumph in the slalom. Petra Vlhová is currently second in the overall classification and in the discipline, but the home favorite injured ligaments in her right knee in the giant slalom in Jasná on Saturday and the season is over for her.
228 points separate Shiffrin from the third place Lena Dürrová from Germany in the slalom, in the current standings of the World Cup the three-time Olympic medalist has a lead of 420 points ahead of the third place Lara Gutová-Behramiová from Switzerland. Dubovská is 23rd in the slalom, 57th overall.
