Today, Saturday 6 January, the Cross del Campaccio takes placea traditional Epiphany event held in San Giorgio su Legnano (in the province of Milan). The event is gold level as far as the World Athletics Cross Country Tour is concerned: it promises to be a cross country of enormous importance, for a 67th edition truly not to be forgotten.

On the men’s front, the big favorite is Kenyan Daniel Ebenyo, silver in the 10,000 meters at the last World Championships and world championship silver in the half marathon. The 28-year-old will have to do the accounts especially with the Ugandan Oscar Chelimo, bronze over 5,000 meters at the 2022 World Championships and fourth at Campaccio last year. Burundians Célestin Ndikumana and Egide Ntakarutimana should be taken into serious consideration. Italy will rely above all on Elias Aouani.
Among women, however, the spotlight is on our Nadia Battocletti, fresh from victory at the BOclassic. The Italian 5000 meter record holder will have to contend above all with the Burundian Francine Niyomukunzi and Micheline Niyomahoro.
