TV expert Dietmar Hamann has once again sharply criticized the work of Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and described his commitment as “the biggest misunderstanding since Jürgen Klinsmann”. FC Bayern responded with a written statement.

The ongoing feud between FC Bayern and TV expert Dietmar Hamann has another chapter. The starting point for the latest level of escalation are statements that the ex-national player made on the talk show “Sky90”.

Here is an overview of the statements:

For Hamann, Tuchel is the “biggest misunderstanding since Jürgen Klinsmann. They don’t fit together and he now knows that too,” said the TV expert. As a reminder: Klinsmann coached Bayern in the 2008/09 season without success and was fired after almost ten months. Hamann is talking himself into a rage: “When I look at the last three home games, it’s underground by Bayern Munich’s standards. “That’s simply not enough against three teams that are at the bottom. That has nothing to do with football,” he complained. Hamann complained about Tuchel’s general statements that the coach made at a fan meeting about a possible coaching position abroad: “Then he sits down and talks about Xavi, about the successor and that he would like to train in Barcelona or Spain. That’s a disgrace!” And further: “He’s a very intelligent man, something like that doesn’t just slip out of his mouth. Only he needs to know one thing: If you’re an employee of FC Bayern, messing with the management – that was rarely a good idea.”Hamann believes that Tuchel has “internally” finished with Bayern.

FC Bayern didn’t want to endure such a massive verbal attack. “On Sunday, as part of a fan club visit, our head coach Thomas Tuchel was asked by the supporters about his coaching career and his previous experiences abroad at Paris St. Germain and Chelsea FC and of course he provided information about this in the conversation. He also answered general questions from the fans “Spain as a football country,” said the joint statement from CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sports director Christoph Freund.

Tuchel “never spoke about Xavi Hernandez and his successor,” the club wrote, “as was falsely claimed afterwards. We will no longer accept such unobjective statements directed against our coach, which always come from the same place.”

The conflict between Hamann and the club and Thomas Tuchel had already escalated in the autumn of last year after Hamann criticized Bayern’s style of play. Now the next chapter followed. Hamann is generally a sharp-tongued, polemical expert. Coaches like Jürgen Klopp and Steffen Baumgart have already felt this.

Sequel follows.
