Criticism of Arsenal professional after cup defeat against Liverpool

After Arsenal FC’s exit from the FA Cup, the press in England criticized the hapless German international soccer player Kai Havertz. “He has many other talents,” it was said in the “Guardian” after the 24-year-old as a striker missed a number of opportunities for the Londoners in the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool FC, some of them miserably.

“Havertz fired five shots with a total of 19 ball contacts in the first half. These are the stats of a killer. But Havertz is not a killer,” wrote the daily newspaper about the third round duel with coach Jürgen Klopp’s team.

The Daily Star said Havertz was “indisposed” and slowed down the game through “poor decisions on the ball.”

Havertz heads wide

In the home game, Havertz often missed the right time to finish; his shots were too weak and unplaced. Havertz put a header just wide of the box at his best opportunity (39′), Arsenal should have been leading at the break.

“Shy Havertz sums up Arsenal’s attacking weakness,” was the headline in the Guardian, drawing comparisons with the film world. “He is the shark in Jaws that is not Jaws,” the paper said. In the famous Hollywood film, the wrong animal is initially killed and the killer shark continues to swim in the sea.

It is “not good” for Havertz to play at the top. Because he is constantly reminding himself of “what he is not”. An own goal from Jakub Kiwior (80th) and the goal from Luis Díaz (90th + 5) made Premier League leaders Liverpool celebrate in London.
