In the recently concluded year, the woman from Almería has achieved many triumphs. Some of them have been the runner-up in Spain U23 women’s individual; she has won the Spanish U19 Women’s Doubles Championship; and she has placed third in the Spanish Women’s Individual U19 Championship. In addition, she has been called up with the Spanish National Team for several international tournaments.

“Congratulations Cristina, every time a person from Almería wins, the city also wins,” said Vázquez, who also highlighted the importance of the support and contribution that the Almería City Council makes from the Sports Area with all the municipal schools and clubs. “so that, in this way, new talents continue to appear in all sports.”

And Cristina Teruel was part of the Mercapinturas Badminton Club, which has a Municipal Sports School where hundreds of Almeria residents are trained in badminton. Later, at the age of 13, she moved to the Andalusian Specialized Center for Sports Technology, of the Andalusian Federation, in Huelva. Since then she has achieved many successes.

“All of Almería is proud of your sporting merits, which are a consequence of your effort and dedication,” added the mayor, who wished the young woman “good luck so that in a few months we can meet again to celebrate new triumphs in this year that has just begun.”

For her part, Cristina Teruel has evaluated her last season as a player in the lower categories (U19) very positively. “It has been a very intense year because I have had to alternate sports with my studies but, although it has been complicated, I am very satisfied and it has not gone badly for me because I have won many medals, participating in national and international championships. This is the result of many training sessions and a lot of daily effort,” the young athlete said.
