Labeled Terre de Jeux, Coulommiers wants to live up to its reputation as a sporting town with the construction of much-awaited equipment for the Briards and the Columérien associations. Indeed, the new sports hall will be built this year. A site delayed by additional soil studies, the start of construction is scheduled for spring, for a period of 18 months.
“A complete offer”
Located in the Templiers district, opposite the high school, this hall will replace the Voituret gymnasium and will consist of a gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, a dojo for judo, a specific gymnastics room, a training room table tennis, a fencing weapons room and a climbing wall.
“The intercommunal dimension of the project is obvious, because the sports clubs concerned have more outside residents than Columériens among their members,” commented Laurence Picard, during the mayor’s greeting ceremony. City and urban community are therefore working together on this operation. »
Another important project will also begin next spring: the construction of an outdoor pool at the intercommunal swimming pool. “Heated by geothermal energy, this additional pool will constitute an additional attraction for our aquatic center, both summer and winter. The duration of the work carried out by the urban community is estimated at 10 months, without the need to close the swimming pool,” continues the councilor.
And to conclude: “After the new multi-sports fields inaugurated in 2023 in Vaux and the Templiers district, these two future facilities will strengthen the already very complete offer of our sports park, which lives and vibrates to the rhythm of our associations sports. »
