Controversy Surrounding the Minister of Sports: Nearly 53,000 Euros for 8 Meetings with Lyon Group

While she was director of the French Tennis Federation (FFT) in 2021, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the current Minister of National Education and Sports, would have received nearly 53,000 euros for 8 meetings with the group Lyonnais Plastic Omnium as director.

The controversies continue for the Minister of National Education and Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra. While the affair of the Stanislas private school has gained momentum and a parliamentary report published this Tuesday, January 23, points out the failures within the sports federations and in particular the remuneration of the minister when she was at the head of the French Tennis Federation (FFT), it is now a new business which has just made its debut.

According to the Tribune de Lyon, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra would have received nearly 53,000 euros, in 2021, from the Lyon group Plastic Omnium, an equipment manufacturer specializing in automobile body parts and where she sat on the committee accounts. A sum that she would have received for having participated, as an administrator, in 8 meetings.

The minister would have received this salary while she was at the head of the FFT and also after having indicated, during a hearing on November 16, 2023, that her salary of 500,000 euros was not sufficient. “If I compare my current salary to the volume of hours that I put in each week, working day, night, weekends, I am not well paid”she declared.

Amélie Oudéa Castera therefore received €53,000 for 8 meetings.

Let’s say they last 2 hours each. This is 284 times the hourly minimum wage.

The Minister of Privileges (er, sorry, National Education) must leave, and quickly! https://t.co/j4EaO0q4rp

Revelations which obviously made the political class react, like Manon Aubry, MEP for La France insoumise (LFI) who indicates on her X account: “Amélie Oudéa Castera therefore received €53,000 for 8 meetings. Let’s assume that they last 2 hours each. That’s 284 times the hourly minimum wage.”
