Colts Owner Jim Irsay Found Unconscious and Suspected Overdose Incident

Colts owner Jim Irsay was found unconscious and struggling to breathe last December, triggering a suspected overdose.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 8, Carmel police officers responded to Irsay’s home for a medical call. Irsay was found unconscious on the bathroom floor and was moved to his bed before officers and medics arrived.

Irsay had abnormal breathing, a weak pulse, and was cold to the touch. Officers on the scene attempted a “sternum rub,” which was unsuccessful, and then administered a dose of Narcan, a medication commonly used to revive people after an opioid overdose.

According to the incident report, Irsay “responded slightly,” and then medics arrived, took over, and transported Irsay to a hospital in an ambulance.

The Colts stated in a statement: “Mr. Irsay continues to recover from his respiratory illness. We will not be commenting further on his personal health, and we continue to ask that the privacy of Jim and his family be respected.”

It is not yet clear whether Irsay’s illness is related to the Dec. 8 incident. Irsay was present for the team’s 30-13 victory over Pittsburgh on December 16, and posted a video to his social media account documenting that day after the game.
