What was that? The match between Club Brugge and KV Kortrijk turned out to be an unlikely rollercoaster. After an early 1-0 by blue-black, the red lantern completely turned a crooked situation around. In the final quarter, Club turned the score around again to 3-2. The climax came in minute 97 when Seck found the equalizer.

Club Brugge – KV Kortrijk in a nutshell:

Man of the match: Lucas Pirard started for the third time in a row under Alexandersson and kept his team in the game in the first half. You can also call it smooshing from Club, but thanks to his saves, KVK was able to get up, over, under and next to blue-black in the second half.

Key moment: The match was always a battle of the pendulum, but Djibi Seck pulled the clapper the hardest. After two comebacks (from 1-0 to 1-2 to 3-2), it is ultimately KVK that returns home as a kind of victor.

Statistics: It is the first time that KV Kortrijk has collected points against Club Brugge since 2012, when it was also a draw. The Guys have never been able to win when they visit Blue-Black.

    Sloppy

When heads and tails meet, it is rarely so exciting. The first half was also play proportional to positions. Red lantern Kortrijk almost did not feature in the game, with Club Brugge claiming the ball and at times playing football with great pleasure and many ideas.

The reward came from the foot of Zinckernagel, who pushed a poorly processed cross into the goal from close range. It could and should have been more, with Pirard populating the shooting gallery “Onder De Lat”. Among other things, a header from Meijer was nicely saved.

Punishment followed after the break, with a rested and sharp Kortrijk punishing Club Brugge. Afolabi, thanked Freyr Alexandersson for the first starting spot, swung free for Mechele and neatly pushed the equalizer through to Mignolet.

Whoever says a must say b, and the chalice must be emptied to the bottom, thought Bruno. The man, former purple and white, was too sharp and left a slow Vetlesen behind. Mignolet beaten again, Club trailing with 20 minutes to go.

    Cover on the nose

We got to work, because this Club can really play football. Sharper and more eager than before, he suddenly managed to score opportunities. Although Jutgla’s shot, from five meters from the goal line, first ended up in the first ring.

Then on to a corner, which was given with a lot of venom by De Cuyper throughout the match. Brandon Mechele was first on a loose ball and fumbled the ball over the line, which also counts. Just not double in an emergency.

Time for Thiago to play his way into the match. He was the biggest, the strongest and the most correctly placed on substitute Skoras’ cross and buffed the ball past Pirard. Two shirts came off, one for the goal, and one for the match that he had now certainly won. With only extra time to play, that was a given, right?

But Club Brugge did what it was not supposed to do: continue playing at half speed and half-heartedly look for a goal. It lost the ball, lost the intensity and with it the three points.

Kortrijk remained threatening, found space and in that space Djibi Seck. He was forgotten by the back line and bought another point for his team. KVK seems far from finished in the Jupiler Pro League.

    Division of points!

De Cuyper is allowed to take the last corner, Kadri heads the ball into a corner again. But it is no longer necessary, no no, Lardot silences Jan Breydel. Only the away section keeps shouting, which has not made the trip unnecessary. After a thrilling match, Djibi Seck scored a point for KVK, which could well be on its way to salvation under Alexandersson.

    The equalizer!

It is not true, Djibi Seck pushes the ball over the line from close range and completely released. Header after header, the ball reaches the substitute, after a long period of possession for the visitors. Club Brugge owes these lost two points entirely to themselves, because the chances were numerous and the sloppiness was great. Two more minutes!

Club Brugge quickly changed pace after the goal. Keeping the ball has become more important, but with good feet Vetlesen gets the ball from Jutgla on the right. The cross to Thiago does not come out completely, Kortrijk runs forward for Pirard’s kick.

    7 – extra time

An additional 7 minutes will be added.

Seven minutes are on the board of the third referee. Kortrijk was fully prepared to fight for a result, but would still have to score.

Thiago does it again for blue-black.

    Bam!

Not one, but two shirts come off for Igor Thiago, as he completes the comeback with a buffalo punch. Skoras has freshly arrived and throws the cross to the big Brazilian, who heads very strongly. The discharge is great, the yellow is his share. 3-2 for the farmers!

Skov Olsen gives a ball that seems innocent, but keeps bouncing through everyone and still reaches the far post. De Cuyper is just too slow to push the ball over the line.
