Zacatecas security elements located a clandestine grave with the remains of 10 people in the municipality of Luis Moya on Wednesday, according to authorities reported this Thursday.

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) reported that a brigade made up of state and federal security corporations, as well as the Local Search Commission and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Forced Disappearance of Persons, made the discovery.

The forensic staff of the General Directorate of Expert Services of the FGJE is carrying out studies and analyzes to identify the bodies located, with the aim of delivering them to their families.

The remains extracted from the “irregular burial area” present various states of conservation, some of which are already in skeletal reduction.

The multidisciplinary search group, accompanied by a representative of the people search group, was also deployed in the municipalities of Ojocaliente, Cuauhtémoc and Genaro Codina, but only in Luis Moya were positive results achieved in locating victims of disappearance.

The head of the General Secretariat of the Government of Zacatecas, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, announced that the identification of the terrain was carried out by air with specialized drones, as well as with ground tours and integration of trained pairs.

“On behalf of the lawyer, David Monreal Ávila, we reaffirm the commitment of the government of Zacatecas and the federal security corporations to prevent the disappearance of people and accompany family members who are looking for a loved one,” the official expressed through social networks. .

2023 was the year with the most missing and unlocated people in the history of Zacatecas. From January 1 to December 31, 1,185 people were reported missing or missing, of which 794 have not been found, according to data from the National Search Commission (CNB).

The above exceeds the balance of 1,125 disappearances, non-locations and locations in 2021, which was considered the year with the highest incidence since the beginning of the registry in 1961. Of the 2021 cases, 654 people still do not appear.
