There was not a shadow of suspense this Friday between the English club, more than ever leader of Pool C, and the totally overwhelmed Basques (61-14).

Several gap classes. This Friday, Northampton literally outclassed Bayonne during the 3rd day of the Champions Cup. A clear and flawless success for the English club, which consolidates its position as leader of Pool C before the rest of the matches this weekend, namely this Saturday Exeter-Glasgow and Toulon-Munster.

Bayonne will not even have had any illusions about this meeting since the Basques conceded a first try in the 2nd minute, the work of Freeman. The first in a long series since Northampton would score a whopping eight tries in less than 50 minutes of play, including three signed by Pearson (13th, 21st and 45th). Enough to lead largely 54-0, and at the same time offer the possibility of rotating the squad.

Good news for the Bayonnais who then managed to stop the bleeding to try to save the honor with a try scored after 16 minutes of play, a symbol, nonetheless, of their difficulties on the offensive level in breaking through the safe of the Saints. Alas, the video annihilated all their efforts. But a few moments later, Spring finally found the opening not to leave fanny, even if behind, Northampton scored a 9th try and Bayonne a second through Callandret (61-14).
